Should the movie industry continue to tacitly support the derailment of African Culture?

African Movies has surely made a mark over the years. Although it has been though for the industry and the requisite equipment, technology, financing missing in comparison to the other well established industries of Hollywood and Bollywood, the industry still thrived and created a niche.

The interesting thing for African Movies especially in the Diaspora was not the fact that it only served as a means for people to connect back home of the culture and environment dispositions, it also stuck a cord with Caribbean’s who often times feel lost of a culture and continuously try hard to connect back to their roots in Africa. So for them African movies the opposite of Hollywood and they could comfortably introduce their children to that other brand of culture which they perceived as in order.

Unfortunately however, as we all strive hard to see a continued growth of the industry, the creeping in of other elements unknown to the dreams and aspirations of the trail blazers of the industry begs the question; do we know our direction? Is the westernization of African movies the right way to go leaving behind the core values that distincts’ African movies? Are we conscious of the so called fashion trends that smacks on the image we want to project like the image below???
